Series of CEDA webinars to focus on the Cutter Suction Dredge and Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge
We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be running a series of CEDA webinars on dredging technology this year – with a focus on the Cutter Suction Dredge and the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge.
World-renowned presenters
Presented by Prof. Dr. ir. Cees van Rhee and Dr. ir. Sape Miedema, from the Offshore and Dredging Engineering Section, of the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, recognised authorities in the field, the series promises to be invaluable for both the uninitiated and the expert dredger.Value for both the unitiated and the expert
Two levels
The series will offer delegates training, at two different levels, depending on their working knowledge and experience. Foundation level webinars will provide a sound basis on topics for professionals working in the dredging field, who don’t have the basic grounding in the subject, and who may have only a limited experience working with dredging equipment and technology. The practitioner level webinars will serve the more experienced engineers who have been through formal training in the field and have experience with dredging equipment and technology. These events will provide in-depth knowledge on specific aspects of each topic.
The series will start with two foundation-level presentations by Prof. van Rhee on the working principles of two workhorses of the industry: the cutter suction dredger and the trailing suction hopper dredger. These presentations will be an ideal introduction for professionals working in the dredging field who don’t have the basic grounding in the subject and may have only limited experience working with dredging equipment and technology. It will suit engineers, scientists, and other professionals in the field, working on dredging projects either as the project owner/developer, regulator, consultant, financier or legal advisor.
The second part of the programme will feature practitioner-level presentations which will focus on particular aspects of the two dredgers. These webinars will be primarily for engineers working in the field, who have been through formal training and have experience with dredging equipment and technology. They will provide additional in-depth knowledge on specific topics.
The webinars are free of charge but registration is required.
Kick-off on 12 May
The series will kick-off on 12 May 2016 1400-1500 hrs (CEST) with a foundation level webinar on the “Working Principle of the Cutter Suction Dredge” by Professor Cees can Rhee. To find out more about this webinar and to register, click here.
The rest of the year
The series will continue in September, after the summer break, with a webinar roughly every two weeks. To find out more about the draft schedule of events for the year visit this page.
We’re keen that the topics remain relevant to our membership so please let us know if there are further particular topics that you would like to see included in the programme. To submit ideas for topics for future inclusion, please send an e-mail to Anna Csiti at the CEDA Secretariat.
