Abstract: The 16888m3 large TSHD(XIN HAI FENG) is the largest TSHD in China. It is new, highly efficient, and has a complex drive. This paper introduces key technologies for designing the 16888m3 trailing suction hopper dredger including the general design technology, the power system of triple-use main engines satisfying the power requirement in varied dredging conditions, the dredging system and equipment design, and dredging integration control system. Also the electrical system (varying frequency for complex drive) of an AC main generator from a primary PTO on the gearbox of the propeller drive. At the same time, social and economic benefits are also introduced in this paper.
