Abstract: This paper analyses physical and chemical properties of the dredging material from the Improvement Project of the Deep-draft Channel of the Yangtze Estuary, as well as the dredging techniques adopted. The state of the art beneficial use of dredging material is introduced, and the main factors which influence the use of dredging material are explored. A primary study on the prospective use of dredging material in the Yangtze Estuary is carried out. With reference to the practice of beneficially using of dredging material in the Reclamation Work on the Hensha East Shoal Project, suggestions for raising efficient use of dredging material are proposed.
