Summary of Effects and Innovative Results of the Luohuzhou Waterway Channel Improvement Project

Abstract: In the paper, the author first describes the channel improvement plan and the regulation structures for the Luohuzhou Waterway and then summarizes the project effects and innovative results of this waterway. Project effects are mainly reflected as follows: The project’s implementation restricted the unfavourable change trends of the river channel, stabilized favourable channel conditions, and the channel dimensions reached planning objectives. Main innovative results include: (1) Design of regulation parameters and training alignment of bank-protection works; (2) Design of drainage system and drainage blind ditches in protection works as well as computing formula for mattress length of bottom protection mattress; (3) “Hooked mattress” design for anti-failure at edge of bar protection structures; (4) Construction processes.
