Abstract: The capital dredging works at the Guniusha waterway crossing shallow area is an important part of the Phase I channel regulation project and the first capital dredging works in the Middle and Lower Yangtze River. This paper mainly includes as follows: (1) plane design; (2) dredge-cut design, containing design water depth, design width, design slope and cross section design; (3) the selection of dredge material disposal site; (4) the calculation of back-silting quantity; (5) hydraulic calculation and stability analysis of dredging scheme, containing the fall in water level induced by dredging and the stability estimate of dredge-cut; (6) stability analysis of the dredging scheme; (7) dredging machines and construction process, and (8) the necessity for dynamic management on dredging works.
