Abstract: The draghead suffers the influence of many uncertain elements for example the current and the silt during dredging, so testing for the resistance is very difficult. Too big a resistance will damage the draghead and the ship. It is a difficult problem to do the resistance testing of the draghead in the excavation process and now there are few open reports on this subject. Here, taking the draghead of DN900 as the object of study and taking the HuangHua silty soil as an experimental bottom bed, the authors carried out a series of excavation tests to the draghead of different sizes in lab and estimated the excavation resistance of the prototype draghead by the resistance testing and extension method of a series of models. It was concluded that it is possible to estimate the draghead resistance by unifying the model tests and the extension method of a series models. The results provide a theoretical basis for the design and manufacture of the draghead and the ship power disposition.
