Abstract: There is a problem of asynchronous data collection, namely, the problem of navigation latency, in the navigation positioning system and sounding system when carrying out sounding surveys. The existence of navigation latency will cause location deviation of the sounding surveys points. Under normal conditions, calibration tests are adopted to get the values of navigation latency, so as to minimize the negative effects. However, these negative effects cannot be eliminated because of such factors as terrain complexity of the sites and control difficulties of the calibration methods. This paper introduces a method of applying PPSiPulse-Per-Secondjto realize time synchronization of the navigation system and the sounding survey system on the platform of computer software and on the basis of the LRK DGPS positioning system and the multiple-beam sounding system. The method can completely eliminate the effects caused by navigation latency when carrying out sounding surveys, and also can increase the positioning accuracy of the sounding surveys, which will benefit dredging services greatly.
