Abstract
The mining industry is currently undergoing a transformative phase with a focus on innovative technologies aimed at sustainable and economical resource extraction. This abstract explores the new development of the Underwater Remote Mining (URM) System at the Ekati Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories of Canada, marking a new method in diamond-bearing kimberlite mining. Collaboratively engineered by Burgundy Diamond Mines and Royal IHC, the URM System introduces a sustainable approach with a lower environmental impact and a reduced footprint.
