WODA Structure
What is the relationship between CEDA, EADA, WEDA and WODA?
WEDA, the Western Dredging Association, and EADA, the Eastern Dredging Association are two sister associations of CEDA under the umbrella of WODA, the World Organisation of Dredging Associations. Click here to view the WODA structure.
The three sister associations share the same aims and values, however they operate autonomously. The three sister associations take it in turns to organise the dredging communiy's single most important event, the triennial World Dredging Congress, WODCON.
Differences and similarities with other international associations with an interest in dredging
IADC and EuDA
IADC, the International Association of Dredging Companies and EuDA, the European Dredging Association are both trade associations for the international private dredging and maritime construction contractors. Both organizations represent the interest of the private dredging companies, IADC at the global, while EuDA at the European level.
CEDA’s members come from all fields related to dredging and marine construction and include - in addition to dredging companies - also project owners, shipyards, consultants and research institutes etc. CEDA represents the common interest of all fields related to dredging. Our views, positions as well as our products and services are based on input from all professional groups within our membership. CEDA does not engage in lobbying to promote the interest of any particular industry sector or organization.
PIANC
PIANC is the global organisation providing guidance for sustainable waterborne transport infrastructure for ports and waterways. PIANC and CEDA have a similar membership base, however a considerable portion of PIANC’s membership consists of national governments, while CEDA is a non-governmental organization. PIANC's interest in dredging is always in the context of ports and navigation, while CEDA’s interest includes all aspects relating to aggregate dredging, shore protection, flood defence, habitat restoration and creation, environmental clean-up, land reclamation (not port-related), pipelines, immersed tube tunnels, the offshore industries etc.
SedNET
SedNet is a European network aimed at incorporating sediment issues and knowledge into European strategies. CEDA's interest includes includes sediment issues related to dredging and marine construction activities such as aggregate dredging, shore protection, flood defence, habitat restoration and creation, environmental clean-up, land reclamation (not port-related), pipelines, immersed tube tunnels, the offshore industries etc.
CEDA's activities
Does CEDA engage in lobbying?
No, CEDA does not engage in lobbying. By providing impartial expert advice we contribute in a pro-active manner to relevant policy-making activities at international and national levels. Our aim is to ensure, that decisions affecting our members future activities will be based on the best knowledge and practice available.
I work for a CEDA corporate Member Company. Can I have my own user ID & Password and receive CEDA e-mails directly?
Yes, all employees of CEDA Corporate Members are able to receive CEDA e-mails (e-newsletters, invitations to national section meetings etc.) directly to their own work e-mail address and have access to the Corporate Members' area of the site using their own personal credentials.
