Dredging: The Extremes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Date and venue

CEDA Dredging Days 2005 will be held from 2 to 4 November 2005 at the Conference Centre of Ahoy’ Rotterdam, Ahoy-weg 10, 3084 BA Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Ahoy' Rotterdam, a truly multifunctional venue, will provide accommodation to the EUROPORT MARITIME 2005 and to the CEDA Dredging Days 2005 conference under one roof. The conference centre is on the first floor and can be reached through the main entrance of the complex. Ahoy’ Rotterdam is easily accessible by car and public transport. For details visit the Ahoy’ Rotterdam web site (www.ahoy.nl). Public Park an Ride facilities at, for example, the Slingesling and Capelsebrug metro stations.

Organisation

CEDA Dredging Days 2005 is organised by Ahoy’ Rotterdam under the auspices of the Central Dredging Association (CEDA). Management Partnership International B.V. (MPI) has been appointed as the Conference Secretariat.

IADC Award

The International Association of Dredging Companies Award for a contribution to the literature on dredging will be presented for the best paper of the conference by an author under 35 years of age.

Language

The sessions will be conducted in English.

Conference proceedings

All papers, platform or poster, will be peer reviewed and published in the Conference Proceedings on a CD-ROM. A bound volume containing the platform papers will also be produced. Both publications will be available to all registered delegates at the start of the conference. Additional copies of the CD-ROM may be ordered at extra cost (Euro 60 for CEDA/EADA/WEDA members and Euro 90 for non members; prices do not include packing and postage).

Catering

Tea and coffee will be served during the breaks between sessions. Lunch will be provided to registered delegates during the breaks between morning and afternoon sessions.

Visa requirements

Participants should check with their local travel agent whether they need a visa for travelling to the

Netherlands. If a visa is required, participants are advised to apply to the nearest Embassy or Consulate of The Netherlands at least 2 months before the intended date of travel.

Letter of Invitation

On request, the organisers will be pleased to send a personal invitation to prospective participants of the conference. Such invitations can only be issued for the purpose of assisting participants to raise travel funds or obtain visas. No financial commitment on the part of the organisers is implied. Please indicate on the conference registration form if you wish to receive a letter of invitation.

Liability and Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that when registering for the conference and booking travel arrangements, intending participants should arrange personal insurance cover for the following:

- loss of registration and tour fees, deposits, hotel costs and air fares, through cancellation of the Congress for Force Majeure or any other reason;

- failure to utilise pre-booked arrangements due to airline delays for Force Majeure or any other reason;

- medical expenses and loss or damage to personal property

Neither Ahoy’ Rotterdam nor CEDA nor MPI BV will accept responsibility for any personal injury, damage or loss of property, which may occur in connection with the conference. The insurance is to be purchased in the participant's own country.

Weather and clothing

It is difficult to predict the climate in Rotterdam in November, but it may rain during your stay and temperatures may fall below freezing (though this is less likely to happen). Delegates and partners will spend much of their time indoors, but should be prepared to wrap up warmly when outdoors.
